Finish shopping with a day to spare

I wake up early (what else is new) and after all the morning stuff it’s time for breakfast, before it’s all gone!  Ammar isn’t hungry and sends me off by myself.  I go across the street where I know it will be peaceful and there’s a surprise there for me!  When I say good morning to my little buddy, Omer, he holds up his phone with the pictures of Dorina and me on it!  Everyone gets a big kick out of that and now I’m buddies with all the staff.



I’m just about to finish my coffee when Ammar calls to check on me.  I’m ready to go except for one thing.  I need a photo of Omer and then he asks for a photo with us together!  

Back across the street we think about what we want to do today.  There are a few more items on the shopping list (sure glad my family doesn’t send me off with requests!) and then we want seafood for dinner.  Apparently that makes men strong!  :)  We wind up under the Galatea Bridge, just as Ted recommended.  The seafood restaurants are all lined up like ducks in a shoot gallery!  We settle on Cansin Fish& Kebab House.  A lot of Arabic flows back and forth between Ammar and the waiter and I have no idea what’s coming.  The only question I was asked is “Do you like fish soup?”  I asked what he had ordered and Ammar said, “Do you trust me?”  Silly question to be asking after almost a week!

I thought we were through!  But no!  Now comes the real entree!  I don't what kind of fish it is;  but Ammar had noticed that my sea bass the other night had lots of little bones and he made sure that wouldn't happen tonight.  And it was delicious!

And, of course, we finish with Turkish tea. I just love the little tulip glasses.

I finally get to sample some Raki!  It tastes like anise and is pretty potent and yummy!

We are quite proficient at tram travel and return home for a little relaxation and blog time, then go looking for dessert and Turkish coffee.  





When we come home I start to think the unthinkable - I need to organize prior to packing.  I finally have time to try on the beautiful clothes that Ammar brought me from Jordan!  A bit more blogging before bedtime.

Happy Birthday, Ammar! It’s a really late morning and breakfast disappears over the horizon.   In fact, the girl at the desk calls to say she didn’t see us at breakfast, is there anything that we need!!   Thanks, anyway! We go off exploring and eventually stop for Turkish coffee and treats.   Ammar has another dish of that delicious caramel covered pudding (?)   and I have pistachio baklava.   I thought I ordered one piece;   but, apparently, one serving is actually four pieces.   And once you start eating, you’re grateful! Saturday, January 25, 2020 - final update

To the mall!  The choices are yoga or breakfast.   I guess I’ll have to ‘fess up, I skipped yoga!!   We ate downstairs this morning, since it wasn’t as crowded as it has been.   The offerings are about the same as across the street;   but the feel is less cozy.   On the plus side, I got to see my new BFF, Dorina!   Hugs, smiles, and lots of giggles! This is the warning label on Marlboro Reds.  It would work for me! We got back upstairs for just a bit and decide to cruise the neighborhood to see if there are any kids’ shops that we might have missed.   We make a complete circuit and come up empty so we go back to research malls on the internet.   Along the way we pass the same restauranteur who always thinks we either look hungry or tired!   It’s become kind of a game between him and Ammar! There are lots of big malls in Istanbul!   The closest is the Hirstoria Mall.   It’s four stories tall and just a short walk off the tram line.   We’re becoming pros at usi

Off to visit Taksim Sunrise is so filled with promise! Beautiful tile in our shower/tub Yay us!   We’re up in time for breakfast, even after I do my morning yoga!   The dining area off our lobby is quit crowded, so we go across the street again, where it is quiet and civilized!   The darling little chef who was so tickled with my hair the first day, asks if we would like cheese omelets!   Didn’t know those where available!   Yes, please!   And I have a chance to sample more of the unknown goodies.   Everything is either delicious or even more so!   Lots of olives and, for dessert, little chunks of halvah!   My weather app says it’s thirty-six degrees;   but I don’t believe it.   I’m just in jeans and a t-shirt and I’m happy!   Of course we just have to cross the street!   And Ammar says I’m not allowed to go outside (or climb out our window like I’ve been doing for photos) without a jacket!   It’
